cMBP 13" 12GB Ram using 4gb stock?

Hi, I was wondering if it's alright to use 4GB stock MBP ram and add an 8GB stick in the other slot to make a total of 12GB.

I only ask this because 1 8GB stick is the exact same price as 2x 4GB sticks.

That's the stick I was planning on using. It seems to be the same speed as stock ram (1600mhz), but I am not sure on timings or if they even need to be the same.

The timing has to be 9-9-9-24, which it doesnt state on here.
It seems like it would work though.

And your Mac will still run but in order to have the full speed of RAM, you should have the same amount installed.
(i.e. 2x2, 4x4, 8x8, 16x16)
It would still run with that setup though.

Thanks. For some reason, I can't find that model's timings, no matter where I look it up on.

Would 12GB with different timings/brands be still better noticeably than matching x2 4GB sticks for total of 8GB ram?

There is nothing wrong with having more RAM.
Its More RAM > Speed, so I would get it.
If you plan to put 2x8GB, you would see an increase in RAM as well as speed.

I searched a bit but cant even see it on Amazon.
It seems like it would work fine.
It is 1.5v and 204pin SODIMM. Worst case, you can always return it for a refund.
