Apple MacBook Pro 15" Unibody laptop 2.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo 4GB DDR3 RAM 500GB Hard disk drive OS X 10.9 Mavericks

Is this a good machine to buy for £499?

Maybe it's just me but that seems WAY high (~$750 in USD?).

I figure my mid-2010 2.66 GHz Arrandale i7 15" cMBP with ram maxed to 8 GB and a 128 GB SSD upgrade is probably worth $500, but maybe I'm the one who's way off on the value?

Maybe buying the iPad Pro and Air 3 will be a better bet.
[doublepost=1454180599][/doublepost]It does feel like better value buying new... versus used... with the iPad 2 and 3 I had no choice to buy second hand. The 2011 MBPs would be slow now, though. =[
