So i was hoping for a MBP refresh with haswell but unfortunately that didn't happen. My question is how does a low voltage i7 1.7GHz HD5000 stack up against the mobile i5 2.5 HD4000. I love the 13 inch form factor and I will mostly Develop on it with a touch of Civilization V on it. Im not looking for a gaming laptop but wich do you think will do better with 3D rendering? Is there any benchmarks out yet of the Low volt Haswells? Thanks in advance.

The Air was always low voltage.

 yes, all though unrlated to my thread. what my question comes down to is i guess what is better for 3d performance. Stock cMBP 13inch or Decked out MBA.

I have a similar question.

Decked out MBA (8 GB/i7) versus cMBP (both i5 and i7). Stock cMBP is noticeably cheaper.

I am suspicious that decked out MBA is faster than the i5, and maybe faster than the i7 (cMBP).

MBA. Brand new tech vs year old tech. 5000 is 40% faster than 4000.

The HD 4000 comes in at about the same level. In different Test though the ULV HD 4000 is slower. At least in some cases like these tested the Haswell Air should be quite a bit faster. In others like games with more CPU demands they will probably come in at the same level or even the Pro as faster. Starcraft might be one such which can in certain situations require tons of cpu power, while the GPU speed needed can scale so well you can play it on any GPU really.
