CNBC will run a one-hour special on Apple CEO Steve Jobs tomorrow night, Thursday June 23rd at 9PM EDT. The show, part of CNBC's Titans series, will offer a look at Steve within interviews from a number of observers, including John Sculley, the former Pepsi-Co exec who famously pushed Jobs out of his own company.
From his parents' California garage he launched the personal computer revolution and built Apple into the most envied, and valuable, technology company in the world. From the Macintosh and the iPod, to iTunes and the iPhone, Jobs has personally presided over the creation of dozens of transformational devices, battling hostile corporate boards, cutthroat competitors, and life-threatening illness while securing his legacy as one of the few visionaries who dared to "Think Different."

"CNBC Titans #6: Steve Jobs" will premiere on Thursday, June 23rd at 9pm ET. The show will repeat that evening at 10pm ET, 12am ET and 1am ET. The show will also repeat on Sunday, June 26th at 9pm ET.

Cool, I haven't watched TV in five or six months, and I think this is a valid reason to break my trend :)

To keep in line with doing it Apple style, and being a complete nerd, I just set my DVR to record this from my iPhone at work.

Oh Steve, I love you.

Do CNBC offer any kind of streaming of their shows? If they only do it for U.S IP-adress that's fine for me, I have an U.S VPN anyway.

Using my iPhone to set the DVR as we speak.

I would have used my iPad but it was busy streaming live TV.

Would be great if someone could record this and upload somewhere for us non-us members to download :)

Please?

I'm sure this will be on the torrent sites within hours of airing.

CNBC Europe and Asia both screen Titans, so although you might have to wait a few weeks it will possible to view this in most countries without having to torrent it.

Stumbled across http://www.mac-history.net/ after watching Pirates of Silicon Valley. Lots of interesting crap.

As smart as Jobs was, Gates was one move ahead, i.e. getting the IBM deal (and licensing not selling the OS), getting Apple to donate a few Macs for software dev purposes (for Apple) only to release Windows which took a lot from Apple's GUI (after promising that they wouldn't) and then leveraging the removal of MS apps as well as a contract with enough wiggle room to avoid being successfully sued by Apple. Explains why he got the cold shoulder from Jobs at the AllthingsD interview with Mossberg... and why he was the richest man in the world for so long.

Gates' willingness to sacrifice anything to gain market share worked out... lying to IBM about having an OS ready, buying then licensing QDOS, taking ideas from Xerox/Apple to make Windows then threatening Apple with taking Word/Excel away if they sued over Windows. Kind of dirty pool but there's no arguing with success... your product doesn't need to be the best, only needs to be good enough.

That being said, Jobs' unwillingness to compromise on anything has turned out pretty well in the long run... just happened to be a bumpier/longer ride... resulting in far more interesting products (IMHO)... love or hate them no one's hype gets more attention than Apple's and there's no denying that they beat MS at the mobile game. A great story, someone should make another movie... won't be long.

The internet has everything, and I mean EVERYTHING. Just need to know how to look.

I'm looking forward to hearing what John Sculley says.

Boilerplate praise. Expect nothing new. If there WAS something new we'd know by now as it is already in the can and it WOULD have leaked. No, this is for people who don't know much about Jobs, and they ain't us.

That was awesome! I am so glad that I DVR'd it because I actually forgot it was on. There was little i didn't already know, but im still glad I watched it to refresh my memory of just how awesome Steve Jobs is.

I enjoyed it, but it could've been better. It praised Jobs as a one man show who created Apple singlehandedly even though Woz made few appearances. I was hoping for an in-depth analysis of his life and personality, but all I got was an Apple timeline. :(
