I sure, I share that sentiment, but Apple isn't going to get my money for the X. I cannot control how people's buying choices.

Regardless of the sale, Apple will spin the sales positively anyways. I'm at a point where the more I hear about 1,000 phone the more I'm resistant to apple embracing the high end pricing structure.

iPhone X pricing

In response to a Good Morning America viewer question asking about a price "out of reach" for the iPhone X, Cook denied that the $999 price would be much of an issue."

Cook said that the iPhone X was at a "value price" for the included technology. No mention was made of the Galaxy Note 8's $939 price, only $60 less than the iPhone X.

True, but the Note 8 is also in another class. The X actually goes against the S8+ due to its size and is much cheaper.

I do wonder if the reason there's still tens of millions of iPhones sold every year is because they're very mobile devices and prone to accidental damage and more wear and tear due to handling whereas tablets, laptops and desktops are more or less stationary.

We have reached time when upgrading phone every 1 or 2 or even 3 years no longer makes sense. Current smart phones are good enough. At work nobody really talks about phones, none of my coworkers even mentioned anything about X. My brother is teacher in high school and he says that only people that are exited about X are his students, mainly due to emoji. So for them it is more of emoji machine then anything else. People on this forum are different from rest of the populace. We are exited about new tech, rest of populace has more of meh approach.

Yep. I mean, I was one of the guys waiting in line for the 3G and 4, and I always bought a new phone every other year...but this is my first time staying put.

I mean, how much phone do I need to make calls/emails/texts, check the web, take some pics, and use a few apps??? For me, it's more about form factor at this point, so I'm sticking with an SE.
