ok the big question is... will it sell more than the 12mini/13mini, or iPhone air.

The base foldable iPhone will be near $2500 in select countries like USA, Japan, UAE etc. For the vast majority of the world that same iPhone would cost over $3000 or often over $3500. No matter how wrong my prediction turns out, the foldable iPhone in USA WILL NOT be lower than $1999 exclusive of taxes and in most other geographies there is no chance of it being cheaper than $2500-3000 even if it costs $2kish in USA for the base model.

And I am only talking of the base model. The top model would probably cost almost $1000 over the base with US pricing, in other geographies the difference might even be as high as $1200-1500.

And when you add on AC+, accessories etc, you're looking at spending in the $500 ballpark just on these things.

So the budget is less than that of a pro which half the population uses. Wouldn’t take those numbers to heart

I mean, no big surprise….. folding phones have been a niche market in the Android world for years now, and there’s no reason to believe it won’t be a niche market in the Apple world either. I don’t know if that means Apple will eventually discontinue them due to a lack of demand ala the iPhone Mini, but I think they stick around for a while, the price will eventually drop to where more people are willing to take the plunge, and further down the road they will likely be replaced with even newer technology (ie, roll-out screens, holography, no screen with AR glasses, etc).
