Co-operative vs Pre-emptive multitasking...

So I have to write 1000-1500 basically comparing the two. I can't think of any disadvantages to pre-emption really, or advantages to cooperation.

Highly frustrating essay.

They all say basically the same thing. Cooperative multitasking is obselete, pre-emptive multitasking is ok but not too great. Multicore makes everything pointless.

The challenge is stretching it to 1000+ words.

You should go through the positives and negatives of each and give a situation where each would be beneficial and detrimental.

Should be pretty easy filling 1500 words describing the scenarios.

You can always go off topic and bring up things used to help overcome the problems like critical sections, locking and synchronization as well as managing IPC, deadlocking and security.
