    I noticed Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer is on sale but I am not sure this would be good as a starter.

    Looking for something with fast learning curve and it cannot hurt if the app is cheap.

    Try shadow era. It's obviously freemium, but you can put together a few completely competitive decks for $5 and start playing almost immediately. :)

    Ascension: CotG isn't truly a CCG, it's a deckbuilder game more similar to Dominion. That said it's still an excellent game, and I highly recommend snapping it up while it's on sale.

    Shadow Era is comparable to WoW TCG, and there is also a Magic: Duel of the Plainswalkers app out now.
