thefts are totally exaggerated as another poster said. If you bring all your computers you will become "that guy" and you will just draw attention to yourself.

Just take a laptop and maybe a desktop. Keep your door locked when you leave and your laptop in a drawer. If you are super concerned there is some anti theft software that actually sends pictures of whoever stole your macbook.

ialertU seems very stupid. Again it will only draw attention to you.

Remember what you are going to college for, its not to spend all day on a computer.

I still don't see why you should bring 2. You'll just draw attention to yourself. Take a pic of your older baby and keep it with you:D. It kills me to think of someone stealing your most beloved possesion:).

OH CRAP I THOUGHT I WAS IN THE COMMUNITY DISCUSSION SECTION, MY BAD

well, my g4 i figure id just take for class notes, travel, entertainment...stuff like that. and my mbp i use with an external monitor as my desktop work horse...i plan on majoring in somthing in comp sci or graphic design so i figure id need it

.....No one takes notes on laptops. At least almost no one. Why do you even have two laptops as a college student?

I'm only grabbing my uMBP with me which is more than enough for college as I am doing medicine.

...get a low cost Asus eeePC1000HE netbook, they have chiclet keyboards, ~10 hour battery life, all you need for the net and notes in class and if anything happens to it, you've still got both your babies...(all for less than $400.00)...

There are many classes in college where taking notes on a computer exceeds a pen and paper. I've had several classes where the teacher provides powerpoints for each lecture. It is so much easier to add notes to the slide. The best part is if you stay on top of it, then you can go through and search through it during finals to study. There are classes that are better to write notes though. I've had about half of my classes where using a laptop is beneficial.

My suggestions: do what everyone else says, don't leave your computer out, lock your doors/windows, and hopefully have roommates you can trust. I would also avoid the common laptop bags so people know you have a laptop in your backpack.
