Heaven help us... anyone does something remotely odd--regardless of how ridiculous it is and they get a badge of honor or something. I can think of better things to spend my $20 on in the event it does turn into a movie/book.

Yeah. Wal-Mart was a hangout spot of us in college (way back in the day, of course). But 41 hours?

I guess it's the logical outcome of consumer culture. Now if only this would inspire some grand, cultural self-reflection on consumerism as identity ....

When I read that article I thought "is this really the state of American culture?"

Self-reflection is dead, methinks.

I personally don't care for WalMart. 1 hour there is bad enough. But I see that it has its place in America. There are people who need WalMart and the savings it provides. I don't think this makes them lesser in my eyes, just that they have a need and WalMart fills it.

41 hours... Yikes.

Ah, college. We used to get stoned and go to the local Wegman's (supermarket open 24 hours) late night and play tag, eat food and re-arrange the shelves.

Artists and writers ARE NOT the same.

Yes an author is an artist, but for my purposes here, they are not.

The kid did something, we call it a Performance Piece if anything. he didnt "write" anything, and if he did I dont think thats what people are bothered by. I doubt he had a purpose for doing it other than boredom.

But according to the article he was doing this with the intent of writing about it. Thus a writer!

Oh my god! Which Wegmans?

I've spent far too many hours in the Wegmans in both Scranton, PA and Ithaca, NY. Not only the most wonderful grocery store on earth, but something that actually makes me miss Ithaca ...

Why this post has garnered so many responses is beyond me, but I'll bite, as well.

Could this be an early April fools joke? I just can't picture this receiving any kind of serious national attention.

Why in the sweet name of the lord would you even want to spend 41 hours in a Walmart, let alone wanting to last the whole week!

Did you read that He's from nebraska and he goes to school in Des Moines? I think that Explains a lot.
