I'll probably end up owing about $4,000 after I graduate with my B.A. (I went in state to a state school). The schools I'm looking at for grad school are all relatively cheap for out-of-state students, so hopefully that won't set me back too much either.

I owed $20k when I graduated and my parents owed about $25k. My part of the loan is only down to about $18k, 3 years later :p

UC Davis is definitely not easy to get into. But, the main problem is that the tuition costs are so high across the board many are kept out and many are kept from what they really wanted to do with law. About half of all students think they'll do a non-profit/legal services gig, but the numbers show less than 5% do(I don't know where I got these numbers but they feel right). The main reason is because of debt.

being a california resident, what i can't figure out is that the uc system keeps on adding extra "fees" and hikes onto graduate law, medical, and business schools that it is almost like out of state tuition going to a public university in another state for a similar graduate degree

i am old enough to remember talking to parents of friends who remember all levels of california education as public, per se, and free

what's arnold going to do next?

i got it, charge for public high school ;)
