Color banding on Santa Rosa MBP?

Can anyone test to see if they have resolved the MBP's color banding issues? I've had my laptop for 6 months and it drives me crazy. Hopefully (since I have Applecare) if its fixed they will be good sports about it.

That's what I'm wondering. In addition, I forgot to mention that I have the 17" version. I suppose I am fine w/o the LED, but I really want the banding to be fixed.

Banding is related to the bit rating of the LCDs. I doubt they switched to 8 bit for the LED screens, which equals banding (6 bit dithered).
