I have an old German movie in AVI format with English subtitles in an SRT format, everything works as it should in VLC, however I need to stream it to a PS3 which does not support the SRT subtitles. What I need to do is mux them together (so the subtitles are in the movie file) in an MPEG-4 format. How would I go about doing this?

Ok, well you could try the streaming and exporting wizard within VLC then convert to MPEG4 after that.

To be honest I haven't played with the wizard in VLC in a while. Unfortunately I think transcoding is the most likely option if you don't want to spend money. Submerge does the transcode, but then if you are only doing it the once then paying for it not really an option for you.

You may need to find a friend with a PC to do this for you as there may be more apps that are free on the PC side of things.

Sorry I couldn't help more.
