As is true with most TV content apps, Comedy Central requires registration with a cable/satellite provider to unlock most content. The CC app has a list of what appears to be every provider in existence, with the exception of comcast/xfinity. I'm guessing there's some sort of money-grubbing lawyer fight that's behind the omission. Does anybody have any insight as to when there will be some sort of resolution to this?

Comedy Central is owned by Viacom, a huge content provider. Comcast is both the largest content provider and owns the most delivery media. Fights among these interests are not new. Because the fights are about money, they will not go away. I don't know about Comedy Central's relationship with Comcast. I do know that if there is a fight between Viacom and Comcast, then it is not Viacom's only fight. My cable and Internet provider is a smaller cable company that was created by the breakup of Cox Communications. However, it is not too small for Viacom to fight. My provider refused to honor Viacom's demands. As a result, my provider, which holds most of the cable franchises in my state, carries no Viacom channels.

It could be a contract hold up. Until about a year ago if you had Directv you couldn't access watchabc or espn. This was do to their current contract was negotiated before those services started. Once that contract expired, they signed a new one that included the app access.
