Apple has given a series order for a half-hour comedy series starring Maya Rudolph. The series is untitled as of yet, but Rudolph will play Molly, a woman whose life is upended after her husband leaves her with 87 billion dollars.

The series was created by Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard, who have also worked with Rudolph on "Forever." Yang is known for "Parks and Recreation," "Master of None," and Apple TV+ show "Little America," while Hubbard has worked on "Parks and Recreation" and "30 Rock."

Maya Rudolph is one of several "Saturday Night Live" stars that are working with Apple. Jason Sudeikis is in hit series "Ted Lasso," Will Ferrell will headline "The Shrink Next Door," and Cecily Strong and Fred Armisen are set to star in upcoming series "Schmigadoon."

In other Apple TV+ news, actress Vera Farmiga is set to star in "Five Days at Memorial," Apple's upcoming limited series that focuses on the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina. Farmiga will play Dr. Anna Pou.

Apple should get in touch with Terry Mancour and see if they can get the rights to the Spellmonger Series. Good for at least 12 seasons of the best high-fantasy/sci-fi series probably ever. Still can't believe this hasn't been adapted for TV.

And yet Apples biggest shows have been comedies and dramas.
Exactly. Dickinson, Ted Lasso, Morning Show. No SciFi or Murder to be found in that grouping. My wife and I really enjoyed all, even the obviously YA "Dickinson" (Ted Lasso is the best of the lot).

We found Servant to be kind of a mess (season 1), we will at least give season 2 a shot to see if it improves. And the reviews for See have been so universally terrible, we're not even that tempted (and I tend to really like good SciFi, Horror or Fantasy).

With all those stars from SNL Apple is starting to put a really good lineup together. This may be the push they were looking for and need to start boosting subscriptions. At some point they need to stop extending the free subscriptions and this may be the lineup that ensures they don't lose subscribers when the free ride runs out.

Looking forward to these new shows!

Yet the biggest streamers are Mandolorian and Wandavision
I agree. More Sci Fi, Action, Fantasy stuff. Apple should get the rights to Spellmonger. It's got it all. Wizards, dragons, a thoughtful blade, Lady Falana, the Forsaken, crippled AI machines, intelligent snowflake things, hawk maidens, giants, goblins, elves, morphing hawks, weird sea gods, space ships, Bova: Goddess of Milk and Cheese, Lady Pleasure, etc. It's amazing.

How very exciting! I love her so much and think she’s insanely funny. Plus, her Prince cover band… Princess is AMAZING. All in all super jazzed at this news.

You mean shows that are each part of a multi-billion dollar franchise universe exclusively owned by the streamer with a pre-existing fanbase in the hundreds of millions? You saying Apple should make more of those?

Well, yes. Those are kinds of thing apple is competing against. Otherwise subscriptions will drop off a cliff the day Apple starts charging.

Maybe start by not dragging its feet on genres people actually like.

Apple should get Dave Chappelle for real comedy. He should be fine because all he tells are one way jokes approved by media. Other way round jokes are not allowed.

Don't speak for "people." Do you really think you are in the majority with your taste in entertainment? Sci-fi is definitely a minority/niche interest in the grand scheme or things. Realistic Drama (including period pieces) and Comedy are still the biggest genres as you can see from the most popular shows from network TV and HBO.
