    Hi all which is better?

To commit to a 2 year contract and get the iphone 3GS for $199 or not commit and pay full price and/or get one used on eBay and the like?

That is the worst consumer advice that I can imagine! :D

Anyway, If you were in the UK, I would recommend O2's PAYG pre-paid package with a full browsing add-on. Two years is far too long, especially considering that the new iPhone must be coming out in the summer. Do you want to find yourself owning a dated phone with another 20 months commitment in the summer?

Anyway, if you really needed a phone contract for the calling features, you would have found it important to ask about. I can only assume that you might get on with either a fully-paid (no-contract) iPhone and some basic mobile internet package or just an iPod Touch.

But again, don't rush into a contract if you don't REALLY need one. No iPhone is worth that.

Naaa, it's the best. We have no clue what this guys life is like, financial situation etc, etc. HE needs to decide what plan is best for his needs. Sure, we can give him all the info but ultimately he needs to decide.
