I was told the opposite from the people from the liquidators at the Beachwood, OH store yesterday. Supposedly the company still owns the inventory.

Perhaps they simply hire the liquidation company to liquidate the inventory and set the prices, but the inventory is still owned by CompUSA.

One near me had signs saying Laptops 40% off. (most stuff was 70%) They had 3 left, a MB, a tiny Sony and some typical PC, maybe an HP. None of them were more than 33% off, belying the signs, and they all had broken screens. The hilarious thing was with the MB. It was listed as $1200 original, $800 clearance. Then there was a little sign suggesting a place to go to spend $400 to get the screen fixed. Interesting math.

Funny how it was still sitting there.
