As an iPhone v1 user upgraded to 2.0 software I know there are some niggles with the new software. What I don't know is whether the new 3g iPhone has the same problems with the 2.0 software. If I get a 3g, will I still find the contacts and some other apps sluggish to start? Is the Safari app sluggish when scrolling around the screen?

All of these problems that I am encountering would seem to be because the display memory (which used to refresh the device so that it was a joy to use) is no longer adequate when having to cope with the 2.0 software.

So if I get a 3g, do I get back the joy of using my iPhone again, with everything working properly and instantly?

Firmware is firmware. It's going to be the same on each phone.

Just wait until Apple releases 2.0.1

Not if there is more memory in the 3g to run it, surely. But I don't know if there is ...
