I did not find there to be an appreciable difference between the late 2013 and new retina iMac when I ran at 1600 x 900 resolution. Both had blurry test. Particularly in the task bar. I also found the retina iMac to have more glare. I was disappointed that the retina iMac did not offer a resolution option of 1280 x 720, which is what I use on my current late 2013 iMac, because of vision issues.

I answered about 1280x720 in your other thread. The retina iMac will actually look a little better than the 2013 in either of those modes. To demonstrate that, after you option-click on "Scaled", check the "Show low resolution modes" box, then go back and forth between high and low for a particular resolution and you can clearly see the difference. It's not perfect, but it's certainly better than low resolution, which is what the 2013 runs in.

I'll be honest, I'm genuinely curious how you can tell if text is blurry or not if you have vision issues that make 1280x720 on a 27" screen a desirable resolution?
