Mine is always off by pretty much exactly 45 degress, even when the "accuracy" beam is quite narrow. It's not my car, either. I've walked down the street and it's always off by 45 degress. It has NEVER been lined up correctly.

I've tried setting the Compass app to true north and magnetic north. I don't think it affects the rotation in Maps. I haven't tried restoring my phone, I was hoping to avoid that. Has anyone else experienced this?
 
Mine's so inaccurate, it might as well not even rotate the maps. I can figure it out better with north being up than with where I'm heading being the top left corner.
