I have an iphone 6, and I have to calibrate the compass by turning it in a circle each time I want to use it, which is maybe once a week. I don't remember having to do this calibration stuff with my iphone 4 each time.

Is there any way to get around having to do it every single time?

I have the same issue. I never had to do it with my 4. Both my 4s and 6 require this.

Yes, buy a proper compass. The iPhone one is a gimmick anyway.#

The other day I opened a map app on my 5S and was required to calibrate the compass before it would show my location.
