Compatable USB flash drives

Hi
Are all USB flash drives compatible with my imac.
I want to create a bootable USB install drive and I know it has to be formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
Is this possible with all USB flash drives .

Yes, you just have to format it first.
