ok guys so i just got my new ibook and yes it has an airport card. i just want to double check that it works with my dads router which is 802.11 g and compatible with b. it is a dlink di-624. with the windows pc we have it has been a piece of $*** and i hate it so im really hoping it dosnt give me any problems with my new mac. and he has a firewall which is zonealarm installed which i really hope dosnt affect my computing . if anyone can holler back with some input that would be sweet. thanks :)

Your Airport card should function fine with any 802.11b or g wireless base.

As for zonealarm, that's software only on the Winbows box, so it won't affect you.

I agree, it should work fine, zonealarm is a program on the pc to protect windows. Your mac doesn't need protecting and will not need 3rd party software to protect it. His zonealarm on his pc wont affect your mac.

it should function fine without a hitch, im using a Linksys router right now with my powerbook with no problems....

its always good to have the hardware firewall as well as the OS firewall on as well though just to be safe
