Hello,

My 2nd set of Apple EarPods have stopped working and I am in the market for some new ones. But I am looking to buy another brand because Apple EarPods in my hands don't last very long, plus they are expensive retailing between £19-35.

So my question for you guys is: What are the best ear bud style headphones for around £20? I would like a fully working remote that can answer calls, skip and pause tracks etc. But most importantly has similar if not better sound quality than the EarPods. Please send me your suggestions, thanks.

P.S I would like the headphones to not have the plugs that go into your ear as I find those extremely uncomfortable.

Welcome to the forum.

In my experience, the wires or remote buttons always fail on my daily use headphones, regardless of the brand or how much I paid for them (I've bought several brands in the $100 range over the years and had them replaced under warranty, giving up after the second fail, and moving on). My eventual solution was to buy a pair that uses replaceable cables, but even those cables cost more than your desired price point (the $50 iPhone cable for my Shure headphones failed twice, so I gave up and just started buying cheap cables from eBay for them).

If you liked their sound, you can find clones of the Apple EarPods very cheap or many, many other ear-bud styles to choose from on eBay. A co-worker wanted to replace the old style Apple earbuds that came with her iPhone 4 and I got a pair for $4 on eBay that she liked very much. At that price, who cares if you replace them a couple times a year? I suggest you hunt eBay and just buy the cheapest pair you that see that have an iPhone remote.

EarPods come with warranty from Apple, so if they just fail at some point and it's not due to some physical damage you might be able to replace them under warranty. Just thought I'd mention that in case it might play a role.

Well, the cheapest quality earpieces that has acceptable sound quality,if you only use them for listening, withouth a mic added, would probably be to look for the old but great Sony sports earphones at your local flea market, but check them up before buying them. If you don't want in ear design, any headphone with 3,5 MM connector works with iPhone 5.

I use Sony headphones a lot and for $10 they are great.

Yeah... the ones I mean, would prolly go for less than 10 bucks... I got mine in the box when I bought a Sony sports Walkman new sometime around 1981,so,only place to find those waterproof earpieces is probably garage sales or flea markets.
