Complete back to factory restore?

Is there a way to completely restore the iphone like the way it came from the factory after you unlock it and install 3rd party apps if you need to send it in for warranty service?

Yes, I think you can go into itunes and hit the restore button.

I thought that restoring the iphone doesn't "relock" you phone though.

Im not 100% but I thought it puts it back to its original factory state as when you first bought it.
