hi, long story short: lost safari tabs/history on iOS beta 18.....made 17 backup beforehand....how do I downgrade to 17 to then install 17 backup?? when I erased device it allowed me to restore from older backup but 18 beta was still installed (there's no option on update screens to stop 18 beta like there used to be)....
 
Because iOS 18 is the current release as of today it has become a little trickier. You will need a computer and you will have to download the IPSW file for iOS 17 in order to go back.

First of all is this an iCloud backup? I find that my tabs don't get restored whenever I use an iCloud backup. If there is iCloud tab syncing then going back to 17 may not help.

If you mean ipsw.me it should be okay. I have used it before.
 
yeah that's what I meant...ugh snickerdoodles! lol

yup safari was still hosed after downgrading and using 17 backup : (

I went into settings and iCloud and disconnected safari from iCloud, this will prevent this from happening again right? if tabs get hosed I can restore from a previous backup and it'll pull safari tabs from the backup not iCloud right?

I'm not sure actually. I have only been restoring backups from my computer because I find my tabs are saved that way unlike with iCloud backups.
