I'm very happy with my Air (my first Mac). I'm still getting used to it, but I really like the nearly instant response, overall performance and light weight. The only real negatives are the slightly unbalanced feel and the concern over the keys marring the screen (I've been using the packaging tissue paper till I get a dedicated screen protector). The Mac OS is a bit different than what I'm used to (XP), but learning my way around has been fairly easy. No post-purchase regrets.

Curious, is this a possible problem with the MBA? In the market for a 11inch base model which will be used on the move a lot!

so happy with my 2010 11 inch MacBook air that even though I bought a 13 inch 2012 MBA and an 11 inch 2012 MBA after trying both for a week, decided to return both and keep my 2010 4/128.
Out of curiosity: why did decide to keep your 2010 model? Can you comment on the battery life of the 11" (2012)?

Thanks!

I assume you're talking about the possible screen marring. Since this is my first Air, I don't know how likely it is, but I'm not taking any chances. I'm just going by what I've read in other threads. AFAIK, the 2012 Air's body is the same as last year's, so I'm just assuming the potential for marring is still there.

If you're talking about the balance issue, I believe the 11'' is better balanced than the 13''.

I am not concerned about marring of the screen. I have the Moshi keyboard protector, it does add a bit of thickness and when the screen is closed in order to sit flush the protective casing may be touching the actual screen. With the Sena folio case, even when closed there's a slight gap that exists now and that's a good thing, no more worries.

As my 11" 2012 is my secondary computer my expectations of it are probably way under what it can do. Now I've got over the initial hurdles of ML (first mac in like 15 years or so), it's a real pleasure.
I'm regarding the next 3 or so years as a trial for going mac for photography work and suspect it'll be an easy decision to move.

The first time the chime happened when I turned it on really brought the uni memories back of booting up my LC and also the rows of classics we had in the labs, ah misty eyes :)

My '11 13" base model is definitely the best computer I've had to date. Loved my old G5 Mac Pro (design-wise it's still top notch for such an old computer), but the air offers such a broad range of features and benefits, it's hard to imagine how it could be made better (that's Apple's job).

Just got a 13" i5/4Gb/128 yesterday. I am loving this thing, it's fast, and it's really comfortable to use.

Very happy with new 2012 11inch MacBook Air with 8GB of RAM and 256GB HD. Small, quick, and lightweight. This is my primary machine. It handles multiple VM's, coding, and general day to day use very well. This is my second 11 inch machine (upgraded from 2011 model for more RAM primarly). I am sure I'll buy another at some point.

i use my MBA mostly for web, office, and light itunes/iphoto. for those purposes i wasn't gaining a whole lot with the more powerful CPUs with the newer models.

all my usb drives are currently 2.0. already have doggles for ethernet and external displays (minidisplay-vga/hdmi/dvi). and have an extra ac adapter at work for the 3-4hr battery life of the 2010.

the 2012 11", in my limited 1 week use, averaged around 4hrs. the 13" was fantastic at over 6hrs which meant no extra ac to ever lug around or have at work.

I just got a 2012 11-inch, i7, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD and I am blown away.

I'm coming from a 13-inch late 2008 aluminum MacBook that I had upgraded to 2GB RAM, so the Air feels lightning fast. Even when I have tons of apps running, iCleanMemory says I have 2-3 gigs of RAM to spare.

The feature that surprised me the most is the speakers. Though they definitely have a "thin" sound (no pun intended), they have a clarity and stereo separation that I've never encountered with a laptop.

My first Mac (years ago) was a 12-inch PowerBook, so the small form factor of the 11-inch is a welcome return to one of the aspects that helped me fall in love with the Mac in the first place.

Been using macs for just over 10years and I've always had laptops. Every one of them have been great in their own way. I have just come from a MBP 15" unibody late 2008, but I'm absolutely loving my 13" Air 2012 model after owning it for 3 weeks.

Love the fact it doesnt get anywhere near as hot as my old machine. Only managed to get it luke warm. Battery life is excellent, really fast and very portable. I must admit I was a bit apprehensive about downsizing to 13", but I've had no problems adjusting to the smaller size.

Just waiting on my Byrd & Belle wool sleeve to arrive, so I can take it into work :)

Do you guys find 128GB to a pain for storage? I mean running out of room and you're always deleting out files to make room for storage.

I am really thinking the freedom of 256GB would be really nice....but thats a lot more $$.

Late 2010 11" 4/128 here. Tempted to upgrade, but this little bugger still does everything I want to do and does it well. Battery life could be better and it does get a little warm at times, but all tolerable.

Also have a 13" Asus Zenbook. Another ultraportable that got solid reviews, but the build quality just can't compare. Screen looks washed out, keyboard and trackpad feel cheap.

My 11" Air (2012 Ultimate) is my backup laptop but I really like it. One thing I like about it is that it's small and light like the iPad but it's a fully fledged laptop rather than a giant iPhone. It's so cute :D It's really fast too. I think the SSD and Core i5 chip helps there.

Try this app called BOOM. It really makes a difference on my 2012 11" Air !!!

Well, I've used less money than the upgrade requires buying a external WD 2TB usb3.0 and Im' really happy with this choice, still surprised with the speed transfers compared to usb2.0 hehe

Regards!

are you serious? mine loses its battery in like 2-3 hours lol but i installed flash.

Really? I get like 4/5 hours out of mine, but I like having the brightness pretty dim and its mainly just for word processing during the day...

my 2011 11 inch Macbook Air is the best laptop i have ever owned.

That's exactly what I was about to write.
It's really an amazing machine -- Almost as easy to handle as an iPad and yet powerful enough to do everything I need with ease (It runs rings around the workstation I use at work for software development except it has only 4MB).
I find "regular" laptops -- even Apple ones -- to be absurd. The only other lappy I'd consider is a 13" MBA.

And, of course, the 2012 models are even better and cheaper.

I love my 13" 2012! It's so fast, and even lighter and thinner than I expected. I think I'll have it for years to come. I love the SSD benefits.
I got a few issues from ML, like slow wake up time, but I expect these to be resolved with the next update!

Love my air 13" base with 8gb. It has ML and it's lightning fast. Love the battery life to and the screen. I have the lg screen (LSN or something) and I don't se what's the fuzz about it not being good.

I have downloaded coda 2 with my student card, xcode and eclipse and it's just perfect, it handles everything I throw at it.

I just don't like the powernap thing. Some times my air is a bit hot when I wake up, but I think it's making local backups while it's power napping.

Anyone know how to turn it off, the power nap ?
