Complicated contraption to fast charge the iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus

Hi all,

I have this adaptor (https://www.anker.com/products/variant/PowerLine-USB-C-to-USB-3.1-Adapter/A8165011) and I was wondering whether using this with Apple’s 61W USB-C adaptor and an AmazonBasics Lightning cable (https://www.amazon.co.uk/AmazonBasi...1qIOimNfgL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch&th=1) to fast charge the new iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus and most importantly, would this charge my iPhone faster than using the power adaptor which came with the iPhone and just the Amazon cable?

And, would it be harmful for the battery of these iPhones?

Look up fast charging for the 8 series and the X. Apple recommends their 29W charger, I believe. But the answer to your question is yes, using a higher watt charger will charge your phone faster than using the charger that was supplied with your phone.

That adaptor should not make any difference, however your X may not recognize the charger. I’d be leery of using a 60W charger unless Apple specifically states that it is safe.

Its a 1000$ phone. Just use the adoptive fast charger which comes in the box.... oh, wait.

Ok. So you got me curious and I looked it all up. Apple says it’s safe to use chargers up to 87W. The 61W charger you have will work. You will likely have to buy from Apple a USB-C to lightning cable, but try your adaptor first. You will now right away as it will either charge or it won’t.
