Compressing Photos for Web?

Hello. My name is Rebecca and I'm very new to both these forums and what all my MacBook Pro can do... Please bear with me...

I have started a company that has a website which sells my products. I take pictures using a very nice camera and upload them to iPhoto (I am currently using iPhoto 8). I then can upload them to my website, however, they are way too big for the website.

Is there some component within iPhoto I can use to compress these photos for the website? If so, do I need to download a newer version of iPhoto (as aforementioned - using iPhoto 8).

Please let me know your thoughts. I appreciate any feedback and help!

Just resize the dimensions down to 400x600 or whatever size fits your website.

Okay, thanks. But how do I do that? How do I "resize" the photo? Can you please walk me through it? Thanks in advance...

When you export the photo (Export is in the File menu) you can set the dimensions of the exported photo.

If they are already exported, use Preview to resize the images (Tools menu I think).
