The 12 inch doesnt come with a hd screen....same old 1024x768 res.

Good reason not to worry about it. i do remember that now that you mention it, only the 15 and 17 got updated screens.

Im in a position now where Im thinking about getting a 12 pb rather than saving up for an mbp...ir wait for a new iBook. I was in my local apple store today and checked the 12 inch powerbooks out...theyre so much nicer then the current iBooks...the screen is just so much brighter IMO. And the build-quality, it feels different..

Mentioned in another thread. The 12-inch Superdrive at AMazon is now down to $1299. $1150 after rebate. Amazing :)

That price is too freakin' low to pass up! I just sold my iBook and I think I'm ordering!

Can you link to that? I'm showing $1449 - 150 for a total of $1299 after rebate.

When I posted, it was still at the $1299 - $150 - $1150. It is now back to $1449 before rebate. Looks like it was a mistake during most of today, but lucky for those who got it.

They've had some wild price fluctuations on those in the past couple of days. Thursday evening they were $1,399.99 on Amazon before the rebate. Then early this morning my girlfriend ordered one while they were $1,299.99 (before the $150 rebate, $1,149.99 after) and her order did indeed go through for that price. By late this afternoon however they were back up to $1,449.99. So they've had 3 different prices listed for them in just the last 24 hours! As often as Amazon changes prices, you should keep your eyes on it because it could always drop again by tomorrow.

Thanks for the update! I will be sure to keep my eyes peeled for a new low price. Tell your girlfriend well done on getting a great price!

 Well, it looks like CompUSA near me is completely sold out and Amazon's prices having't dropped again. I was ready to buy one today/tomorrow, but I guess it'll have to wait.

If anyone sees a similar deal and is willing to give me a heads up, I'd really appreciate it!!

If you can find one, Apple retail stores are selling refreshed 12" Powerbook 1.5 Superdrive models for $999!

Thats a good price, but the cheapest I've seen them for on the refurb site is $1099. No matter really, I found a used one in MINT condition for $900 (with a combo drive, but...). By the time I add in the tax (~$85) and the price for the extra ram that mine came with (~$150) its up over $1200, which is more than mine will end up costing even after I put applecare on it.

Thanks for the heads up though!
