My computer, iPhone and iPad all identify my AirPod Pro 3’s as AirPod Pro 2’s. I just got the Firmware Update to 8B30 and the model number on the AirPods is A3063 so they are the Pro 3’s. I guess it’s not really a problem but I’m just wondering what’s going on.

If your devices are running an outdated operating system they won't properly recognize the AirPods Pro 3. Is that the case with your devices?

No, everything is on 26. I guess it doesn’t really matter as I know they’re Pro 3’s, it just seems a little odd.

In Bluetooth settings for them there's a "Name" you can customize (when they are connected) and a "Model Name" that you cannot. Do both fields have the same name?
The Model Name is AirPods Pro. The name I could change was AirPods Pro 2. I changed that one to AirPods Pro 3 and that’s how it shows up in settings. Thanks for your help.

airpods pro 2 just means theres 2 instances of airpods pro linked to your account. not the fact that its 2nd gen. thats just how apple names multiple devices with the same name.

I do have a pair of the original AirPod Pros as well. Thanks for the explanation.
