[i bought the monitor 3 days ago]
my imac (2007 20" 2.4ghz) is connected to a 1080p viewsonic display via mini-dvi to dvi.

i use Spaces often and it's becoming annoying when BOTH the screens change. the main reason why i bought the display was so that i could use it as a SECONDARY display, not a secondary Spaces on top of my Spaces.

so point is, is it possible for Spaces to still be intact while my secondary display's content stays the same?

much thanks in advance :)

There's no way that I know of for Spaces to only effect one monitor, but you could set the application on the second monitor to work in all spaces - this is what I've done with Safari, for instance, as I have my second monitor rotated to portrait orientation for browsing.
