I don't know if someone already made this topic, if so, a mod can feel free to move/merge it.

I am concerned about MacOS27 not allowing for the support of Flash based Apps such as Pinta, and various games I play that are Flash based. I get warnings now and then popping up on the screen. Should I just avoid updating to MacOS27 all together, or is there a way to get support for Flash based apps for it? Is there any possible fixes I will be able to use?

macOS 27 will still have Rosetta support (Apple's plan is to remove it in macOS 28), so your Flash Player should work in macOS 27. I have a few old Flash games and also I think I have a dancing alien and a "Your Base Are Belong To Us" video. 🙂

We're going to lose support for anything that relies on Rosetta (like Flash Player) except for some game "frameworks" that Apple hasn't yet detailed. Safe to say, though, that Flash will not run natively starting with macOS 28.

However, I have Flash Player installed in Windows 11 ARM in a Parallels virtual machine. This will likely be your best solution. If you like to tinker, you can also install DOSBox-X and create a Windows 98 image and install Flash in Windows 98. In my limited tests, it isn't as smooth as using Win11 in Parallels I think because the Flash Player in Windows 98 is an Internet Explorer plug-in, so Flash is played in the browser. Whereas Flash on Win11 is played in the standalone Flash Player I have installed.

Long story short: Win11 in Parallels is probably the best/easiest solution.

UTM doesn’t support OpenGL or DirectX so the Flash games OP wants to run may not be very enjoyable without hardware acceleration. Parallels DirectX support is quite good, I’ve even run graphics benchmarks in Win11ARM that outperform the same benchmarks on my previous 2019 Intel MBP with 5500M 8GB VRAM. And DOSBox-X (free like UTM) has support for 3Dfx Voodoo and DirectX (I installed DirectX 9.0c to run the 1998 X-Files game). But OP may not want to go that old school and build a Win98 image just for Flash games lol. I’m going to give UTM a try and see what the performance hit (if any) is like with Flash in Win11ARM. They say UTM can run x86 (WinXP etc) in emulation just more slowly so that likely isn’t a solution but will be interesting to see. I’ll report back when I have a chance to test UTM.

Already mentioned, the (full) incompatibility is indeed probably due to the discontinuation of Rosetta. As such, you should be able to get by with macOS 27, although unlikely thereafter.
Rosetta is currently available for any Mac with Apple silicon, and it will remain available through the forthcoming macOS 27 — the next major macOS release. Starting with computers using macOS 28, Rosetta functionality will be available only for certain older, unmaintained games that rely on Intel-based frameworks. Find out which macOS you’re using.

For optimal performance and future compatibility, you should update your Intel-based apps, plug-ins, extensions, and other add-ons for Apple silicon.
@conmee Thanks for the stay-of-execution reminder. I’ve updated or ditched most Intel-only apps. The single critical software remaining, that I’ve realized, is my password (and other sensitive details) manager. So, an extra couple of years to ensure all of my ducks are accounted for should be helpful.

Flash is obsolete and a huge security hazard. Look for HTML5 games instead 👍🏻
Flash hasn’t been supported on any platform for many years already!
Mmmhmmm. More than five since EoL.
Adobe will stop updating and distributing Flash Player after December 31, 2020. (end-of-life date).

Flash support and Rosetta emulation are both going away.

I sure hope the TurboTax developers get off their arse and release an modernized version before too long LOL

TurboTax will likely either go web-only on Mac or switch to a thin electron-like wrapper around their web app.

When i have scaned a document with my old Brother dpc7030 using the apple printer app and went to open scanner the system wanrned me that this application will not be supported in the next version of macos.
Does that mean i will not be able to scan with this device anymore after System update? Printing seems to be supported using cups.

Have you tried to scan with Image Capture (/Applications/Image Capture.app)?

I have an Epson printer and all the utilities that came with it are giving the warning about needing to be updated in the future (driver, scanner app, Print CD app, Low Ink Reminder, Updater, photo app). And when sending a print job using the Epson driver it just sits in the queue. So I installed the Apple Bonjour default driver and that works fine and doesn’t issue any warnings. But it is missing some settings related to paper selection and scan/photo quality. I’m sure Epson will tell me I need to get a new printer instead of write new drivers/apps when the time comes.

You’ll at least be able to continue using this through macOS 27.
