Is anyone else worried that the ports will get scratched by peripherals?

There’s so going to be a line of Mac Studio shields for those ports within a few weeks from the makers of screen protectors, isn’t there. Like those God awful plastic car bras that people used to buy! :D

If you’re worried about scratches though and need to use those ports regularly, just stick a couple of layers of sticky tape over them and carefully cut out holes in the tape for the ports and wait until protective stickers appear on Etsy, eBay and then Amazon. :)

SD cards are plastic so no scratches there. If you are worried about the USB C ports then get USB C to USB A and USB C to USB C adapters from Amazon. Plug one on each front port and be done.

I guess this is why Apple didn’t make it space grey. With silver undyed brushed aluminum, we knew since the Core2Duo MacBook Pro era that they can be scratched like hell before anyone noticing.

I guess it is worth noting that my M1 Pro MacBook Pro is space gray and the ports still look good despite having been used! *knocks on wood*

Never scratched the ports on the back of an Intel iMac where you don’t get a clear view of where you are plugging cables so having a clear aim on the Studio it will be even less likely to happen (ie..never).

It’s a tool, not a precious gem so just use it, enjoy it and create something you‘re proud of.
