And proud of it! :D It is my understanding that for years America would not let the Concorde fly in it's air space...and why I wonder...maybe because the project had succeeded, and they could not lay claim to being a part of it? Hmmm....envy is a terrible thing :p :D :)
 
Funny thing was, when the US pulled out, Boeing, who was contracted to design and build the thing, suddenly began laying off everyone whom they hired. At that time, Boeing was the only major firm in Seattle, so the Seattle economy began to collapse. People began migrating out and someone posted the infamous billboard that read, "Will the last person to leave please turn off the lights?"

Fortunately, Seattle did recover.
