I was a little concern with this before i bought one, but i haven't noticed a thing. I used it for hours watching netflix and a few other things and it was pretty cool.

Plus most people use a case, so even if it did get hot it's unlikely you would notice.

Just saw Jim Cramer on CNBC holding the new iPad with an oven mitt, haha.

He's very bullish on Apple so he was probably saying it's overblown.

There is a difference between a laptop and the ipad. I dont hold the bottom of my laptop.. it sits on a table as most of them do. So I dont think this is not a reasonable comparison.

Hands go where heat is on an iPad so it should be minimal to nonexistant.

Can we live with this...sure.

Should you have too? NO

Just the fact that people are commenting on it makes it a much bigger issue than many of you will admit.

I am beginning to think this new ipad is not a product that Steve would make. I dont like being a beta tester and having to spend $900.

Then return your iPad and let it become a refurb for somebody that appreciates it :)

Try playing Infinity Blade II for 15 minutes and tell me your ipad doesn't heat up...

I'll wait

I played it at lunch today for 30 minutes. It got warm but not hot. Maybe mid 80s if that. My laptop blows out 120+ degree air from its fan exhaust and can physically burn you if you hold your hand there.

Wait, this can't be a non-issue! I heard my local TV moron say today that the new iPads have a problem with "often overheating"!

After 2 and a half hours it is certainly warm. To hot to hold or uncomfortable? Not even near it. Maybe if you are made out of ice and are susceptible to melting you may have issues otherwise man the ****** up.

Reading some of the posts on the apple centric blog sites seems to highlight the worldwide problem that I like to call early adopters (or most likely, jealous bastard can't afford one so will make **** up about it) munchausen's syndrome.

Typified by comments such as:

It overheats and I can fry eggs on it
There are hundreds of dead pixels
It's yellow
It's pink
Light bleeds
The battery runs out in 5 minutes
The wifi reception seems weaker
it uses more data
Etc etc.

What I really want to know is whether or not this will affect sales. History tells me it will not, but it has been taken to ridiculous heights in the media.
