Pre-orders will deliver on the 21st, the same day as released in stores. I asked the gal several times to confirm this, and she said both her internal documentation and information from superiors confirms this. iPhone pre-orders will deliver on the 21st.

for the 4S i attempted to pre-order at 2:01 am Houston time and it took almost 90 minutes do to all the outtages and lag time. got the phone delivered on release day. kind of pissed me off when i came into the office on release day to learn a few of the co-workers just walked downstairs to the att store and picked one up not having to deal with pre-ordering in the middle of the night

Perfect, I'm in the Pacific Time Zone and I work 4pm-Midnight that night and will be in an area with good cell service or the ability to go to the office and use a computer on a T1 line, works for me just fine.

I woke up earlier than normal today and followed the live blog on theverve and was disappointed it couldn't be preordered today. I likened it to going to bed thinking it's Christmas Eve, and waking up the next morning to find out it's only the 23rd. Either way though, my iPhone 4 is getting a much needed upgrade.

Last year, pretty much anyone who ordered during most of the morning got theirs delivered the first day.

What I would like to know is if it's possible to call them up and order the phone without extending a contract. Right now it doesn't look like it. I don't want to extend my contract as I would like to get it unlocked (I don't care if it ships "locked" but want to make sure I can initiate the online unlock process before I go overseas with it).

The Sprint version actually is LTE compatible overseas (unlike the AT&T version), but unfortunately Sprint's LTE network isn't very well built up in the US and their 3G network is awful, so I'll probably stick with AT&T for now.

Pre orders have always been delivered on the same day as the store launch, this is no different. As for pre order times, I will be very surprised if those are correct.
