So, I've been thinking about getting another Mac laptop, but this time something I could run Jaguar on. I used Jaguar briefly on my iBook G3 Dual USB (when it still worked) and quite liked the UI and I am curious to test Jaguar's Classic abilities again. While I could just buy another 500mhz iBook G3 Dual USB, I kind of want to try Jaguar on a G4 laptop. So, I did some research using the EveryMac website and found that the 2003 Aluminum PowerBook G4s are the last laptops that can officially run Jaguar. I noticed however that some models came with 10.2.4 and others came with 10.2.7. I found images of the 10.2.7 discs at the Internet Archive, but I don't see any 10.2.4 discs. Would the 10.2.7 discs work on the models that shipped with 10.2.4? I also noticed on Macintosh Garden that there are restore discs for the 2003 iMac G4 that have 10.2.7 and, according to the comments, will run on a PowerBook G4. I'm not sure if this includes the Aluminum PowerBook G4s or just the TiBooks?

I have a large collection of restore discs but only 10.2.3 and 10.2.7 for PowerBooks, not 10.2.4. I can check if the 10.2.7 disc boots and installs on an original 12" PB that came with 1.0 2.3.
Even if it doesn't, it's trivial to modify it so that it does.

Do you have an iBook G4 that is not the final model? Jaguar also runs great on them - unofficially. The same goes for the 1.33 GHz 12" PB - in fact, I only run Jaguar on mine. :)

Interesting. I guess Every Mac must have gotten the version number wrong.

No, I don't have an iBook G4, but that's a good idea.

Yep, I've also noticed that. Now for something funnier, my original 12" PB has the optional AirPort Extreme upgrade - which causes its 10.2.3 restore disc to KP. How awesome is that?

Wow, that's odd. Guess if I buy a 12'' PB, I better remove the Airport Extreme card, or just avoid the 12'' altogether.
