I've recently been considering getting an iMac as I process a lot of photos and my 15" MBP screen just isn't big enough anymore. I had a recent trip to an Apple store to fix my wife's iphone and whilst I was there had a very quick look at the iMac screens. They are lovely, but I was a little disappointed in there sharpness when compared to the MBP retina displays, which you'd expect when you look at the DPI. However, I then saw a screen which looked much sharper, and when I went into system preferences to look at the resolution I'm sure it said Retina. However, looking on the Apple store I can't see any iMacs, or monitors with retina.

Am I looking in the wrong place, or did I hallucinate the retina monitor? I will be going back to the store when my wife's phone comes back from being fixed so will have another look, but if anyone can shed any light in the meantime that'd be great :)

    Cheers

Don't think so as that has the same resolution as the 27inch iMac screen. Really intrigued as to what I saw as the screen had a different look, somehow looked glossier or something. Must've been hallucinating ;)

    Maybe.

The only products Apple gives the retina tag to are the MacBook Pro, iPhone and iPad.

Thanks. I wonder if they'll announce one for the iMac at the next WWDC?

Anything is possible, however, I haven't seen any rumors about it yet.
