So with Skype I can call like let's say my house if I'm at school for free?!?!?
You can call your PC/mac for free. Your landline and mobile will be real cheap, but not quite free...
call real phone will cost around $0.02/min, or $30/year
by real, I phone a physical phone, not virtual one on a cmputer
how does it charge you the money, because I did make a call to my mom once and nothing happened the call went normal. Does it charge you in the background or something?
You have to buy credit in advance.
When did you make the call? It was free until Jan. 1.
It was free all last year to anywhere in US or Canada until Jan
As calculus has said you have to buy credit. Or you can do what I did and pay 29.95 for the entire year and call anywhere in the US and Canada. For those overseas calls then you will need to buuy additional credit ("Skypeout") that allows you to call anywhere in the world for pretty cheap or use the credit to send "SMS" messages to friends. Not a bad deal so far. Also as already mentioned calls to PC to PC or PC to MAC are free along with just chatting like IM.
