I had moved my Pictures library on an external disk that was mounted as l

rwxr-xr-x 1 bob staff 25 8 Dec 2023 Pictures -> /Volumes/500GBT5/Pictures

I had to remove the disk that was giving signals of breaking and copied the Library to a new path and in the Photos app moved the Library to that location

and the Photos app seems to work well despite the warning about the Library not being the System Photo library.

But I am not able to move the link to Pictures in my home directory which is now a dangling link to a non existing disk.

How do I fix things properly? Help please.

BTW if in the Finder settings I ask to show the Pictures in the sidebar, it does not show up.

Thank you very much for trying to help but I fear I've screwed up something.

Following those instruction I am pointing to the right directory I believe

but when I open the Photos app I see some photos kind of blurred and others are blank.

On top of this the photos I see are not synced with the iphone anymore.

Not quite sure how to redress this.

EDIT

the photo app on the mac seems to align with the iCloud photo library but if I try to export the last photos I get an Unknown error (-1) and the photo is not exported.

Thank you

EDIT 2

Trying repairing the Photo library as per https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/photos/pht6be18f93/mac

It is now in a 'Restoring from iCloud' will report back at the end

EDIT 3

After a mighty long time, and syncing with the cloud (took several hours) everything looks fine, I see al photos and can export them.

Thank you
