in setting up my ATV 4 in the Video and Sound section, I am confused about the correct setting for two line items to get my best sound. I have my ATV 4 connected to my Pioneer AV 5.1 (FWIW: Pioneer Elite VSX-101). The ATV settings I am questioning are:
1). In Video and Sound>Surround, should I select Best available or 5.1?
2) In Audio Output, should I select Apple Tv or my Pioneer system (listed by correct name showing). This setting is really confusing to me.

Thank you so much to anyone who will take the time to help this somewhat, LOL, non-techy get this setup correctly.

First selection is described in detail here: http://developer.dolby.com/News/Dolby_Audio_Support_on_Apple_TV.aspx
(Note the default selection "Auto" has now been renamed to "Best quality available" but is the same thing).
The second selection shows you the possible AirPlay audio streaming targets (for when you'd like to direct audio into next room wirelessly). Makes no sense to send audio over home network to same device you are already connected to via HDMI.
If your aTV is connected to Pioneer AVR, leave it untouched.
Incidentally, most default settings on aTV are the best ones. You do not need to tweak them much.

Hi
I also have a Pioneer receiver and mine is set to Apple TV and best available. Incidentally when atv is connected directly to receiver my Amazon app doesn't work. If I connect the atv directly to tv bypassing receiver then Amazon works but sound is out of sync. I am totally confused and thank God I've got an xbox one which performs perfectly. I wondered why I have bought the Apple TV

My Amazon app does work when ATV is connected to Pioneer receiver. Sound is in-sync but is not 5.1, but that’s as others have stated. Also, I do have my ATV 4 set to Apple TV and Best Available, as advised.
