I'm upgrading my iphone 4s to a 6s but am confused on what route to go (2 yr. contract vs. month to month). Couple questions for you guys...

1) I'm currently on a verizon family plan paying $20/month line access fee. That will change to $40/month if I go on a 2 year contract, but will stay $20/month if I'm on a month to month device payment plan correct?

2) best buy is offering a deal through today, 64GB 6S for $100 with 2 yr. contract. This sounds like a good deal, but my line access fee will go up to $40 a month and then I have a one time upgrade fee on top of this.
3) wasn't apple offering free apple care + with a device payment plan? It doesn't show it on their website though.

It's not free AppleCare+ though. The monthly fee is equal to the (price of the phone + the price of AppleCare+) / 24.

So If I don't want apple care plus, and probably gonna keep my phone for 2 years, and I can get the phone on contract for $100, then that seems like the way to go right?

is there anywhere that breaks down the cost of the different options and benfits and cons to each? that would be ideal.

Seems like it. I didn't know Verizon still did 2-year contracts, but if they do, and your bill goes up $20/month (and you pay $100 up-front), seem like you're getting a $749 phone for $580. That's nice!

looks like though bill goes up to $40/month (line access fee) x 24 months =$960 for 2 years + $100 for phone = $1160 for 2 years which actually isn't all that different in price if I go with the device payment plan. $20 x 24 months = $480 + $31/month (device payment plan) x 24 months = $744. total = $744 + $480 = $1224.

So really when it comes down to it (unless I did the math wrong here) looks like there is only a $64 saving over 2 ears with a contract, which is nice but with the device payment plan I can upgrade in a year.

$960 for 2 years + $100 for phone = $1160
That should be $1060, no?

The $100 off Best Buy thing is kind of cool, but if you want to upgrade yearly, sounds like doing Verizon's payment plan is probably the easiest way to do that.
