Confused

I just got the new iPad and I have the smart cover with the sleep/awake function enabled. I also have a first gen iPad. My problem is when I download a universal app on my iPhone, it also downloads it on my first gen iPad but not my new iPad with the smart cover on. I figured when I wake the new iPad up by removing the smart cover the app would either already be there or would automatically start downloading it. But it does neither. Any suggestions?

settings>store>"automatic downloads" Are apps enabled or off?

Good call sir! I just wonder why that setting didnt automatically turn itself on when I activated my new iPad from iCloud. 😕

Perhaps the Auto Download is a choice to make by the user only, rather than a default ON.
