That's a zero, or maybe a -1
Apple uses unsigned long 64 bit numbers for a lot of stuff internally.
2^64 = 18446744073709551616L = 18.46 EB
I think integers start with 1,2,3 and so on. So a zero doesn't fit in properly, and neither do negative numbers. So what the OS apparently does is to take 2^64 as zero and then go down from there to get the negative numbers. I've seen this happen in a few places now in OSX.
