So I'm trying to adjust to my first mac, a new iMac 27. I moved all of my pictures over to the mac harddrive. I am now confused with am I supposed to import them all to Iphoto and then have them on my harddrive twice? Would I be better to delete them from my harddrive and them just import them into Iphoto? I'd really like to keep them in the folders I already have since I have so many pictures already in different folders. Please advise of the best way to proceed. Thanks.

I'd certainly not recommend deleting them before you try to import them; that could make things tricky :p

With iPhoto you can either copy them into the iPhoto "package", or leave them where they are on your hard drive and have iPhoto index them etc.

Go to iPhoto>Preferences>Advanced to see these options.
