They look like awesome machines if you are going to be using macOS ONLY. After watching Unleashed, I am super happy with my decision to go 2019 Macbook Pro 16. Gaming not even mentioned.

I feel similarly, but honestly, as fast as those things are I have to wonder if a game running in Windows for ARM in Parallels might still be roughly as fast as the 16" with it's anemic GPUs.

See, this is my problem --- but my 16" was issued to me by my PhD advisor, so I can't complain 🤷♂️mine doesn't. of course I am not trying to force it to be a desktop.![]()

Windows is blazing fast in Parallels and it's being emulated. I don't know why Microsoft doesn't want my money, cuz I'd buy another copy if they released Mac support.Windows on ARM falls on Microsoft to deliver. So far they have advised no plans. Only hope for windows VM on M-series Macs are is through Parallels.

Gaming in Parallels is pretty atrocious. I'm assuming the new ones will be better, but it's still going to suck.Unfortunately the market for Mac owners who would buy Arm Windows is probably tiny, so I don't think Microsoft will support it, maybe in several years but not now for sure. Which leaves those who want to play Windows games on Arm Macs in somewhat of a quandary, because you don't know how long you'll be able to do so, and you need to be on Microsoft's insider programme to do it.
It didn't look too promising when the new iMac was said to struggle with StarCraft 2, a game I would play, in Parallels, I'd imagine the new MacBook Pro's will be better?

is it taped to your notebook?
We will have to wait and see, but it will still be an issue emulating an app emulating Windows emulating X86 games and probably more emulation on top of that. It leaves second hand Macs or trying to get an EGPU to run in Parallels, probably will be a nightmare, or a Mac Pro. They seem to have some inconsistent performance too on M1 Macs.
assuming their is no Parallels bottleneck, the games that run on the M1 will probably perform better on the pro and max. However, there are LOTS of games that do not run at all on Parallels in the M1 and I doubt they are going to work on the new ones. Personally, I would not own a computer I could not play Planet Zoo on.![]()
