Connect Air to Older iMac

Hello all,

I've come across an older iMac that has a firewire and mini display port

My 2014 MBA has USB and a thunderbolt port... is there a combination of cables/adapters in order to use the iMac in target display mode? Or is this not possible?

If your older iMac with Mini DisplayPort is a 27" you can use it in Target Display Mode connected to your MacBook Air with a Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cable.
