Connect Android phone via USB

When I plug in my Android phone via USB to my MBP the phone has a popup window asking how I want to connect, charge or transfer files. I select transfer files. But on my MBP the phone does not appear as a drive. How can I get it to appear?

On my Windows laptop when I do the same thing the phone appears as a drive and I can access stuff on the phone.

Google had "Android File Transfer for Mac", but the official page is not working now
