I have the right connector cables (dvi to hdmi - hdmi to tv) and I see my empty desktop screen picture on the my television. But I see no "dock" and no file folders on the tv and when I connect to Safari when I see on my computer does not show up on the tv screen.

I want to be able to show streaming media from a conference onto my tv.

I have a quite new Vizio tv and my mac is only a y ear old and has Snow Leopard 10.5.8.

What's the missing step?

Select mirroring mode from System Preferences -> Displays. You have now chosen extend desktop so it acts like an extra space, you can move the window there

I don't find this option in Displays. Using help I find I don't have this option on my computer. Will selecting a "stretch" mode do the same thing?
